It is possible that some people reading this think of Michael Caine only as lovable old Alfred in Nolan's Batman movies, or possibly Scrooge in Muppet Christmas Carol.
In the 1960's Caine was a huge star, second only to Sean Connery in terms of British actors, bringing 60's working class cool to the Harry Palmer movies and The Italian Job, amongst many others [link]

Anyway, he is now part of the elder establishment of actors who play certain types of roles, and I think his recent career revival via Chris Nolan is very welcome
